Qatar Financial Information Unit mourns H.E. Brigadier Abdullah bin Hamad Al Nuaimi, Assistant Chief of State Security Bureau for Administrative and Financial Affairs, former Member of the National Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee (NAMLC), who passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 in a tragic accident, after a long and remarkable career path in different national areas.
The deceased (May his soul rest in peace) was one of the first founder members of the NAMLC. He was also a distinguished member of the founder team of Qatar Financial Information Unit, and oversaw the core requirements of the creation of the QFIU. He participated in significant founding meeting during which the establishment of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force “MENAFATF" was announced in 2004.
In 2005 he participated with the Qatari delegation in the 13th plenary meeting of the Egmont Group held in Washington, during which the QFIU was declared as a new member of the Egmont Group.
He also participated with the national team in the FSAP process for the follow up of the mutual evaluation. In addition to representing and attending a number of international forums he did not spare any effort in presenting his suggestions and directives to foster and enhance the local and national cooperation.
With his grievous death the State of Qatar certainly lost a prominent and respectable national personality.
We ask the Almighty God to have mercy on his soul and to give his family and relatives patience and fortitude. "To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return."
